A daughter for us
and a friend for our Savannah cat Aloha.
A godchild for auntie Dorine, the younger sister of Anouck. Dorine loves travelling, cats and dancing. She works as a teacher at an international school and moves to Dubai soon.
Rik's brother is godfather. He plays the drums, loves racing and is passionate about his garage full of oldtimers. He works as a teacher for Mazda, as head of the car technicians.
MAKE LOVE NOT WAR
We both like the name DITA.
We picked a short name, easy to write and pronounce. It sounds strong and feminine.
We looked up the origin and meaning of her name. It's a derivation of the name Edith.
The name stands for: golden summer days / daughter / welfare in times of war.
This last explanation gave us goosebumps...
LOVE BABY
Dita's great-grandmother, Joske Van Humbeeck, was also born on the 1st of April 1923.
So, on Dita's first birthday, her great grandmother would have turned 100!
Rik's other grandma Lia Van Gysel is 93 years old. Dita is her 30th great-grandchild and 10th girl in line.
RAISE YOUR GLASS
Some of you might think of 'Dita' Von Teese, the most famous burlesque dancer, best known for her champagne glass act.
Rik had the opportunity to interview her once in 2012 for work.
She's got a vintage, stylish vibe with a big passion for fashion, the same passion that Anouck is sharing. With her own classy attitude, Dita Von Teese is kind of punk. Three weeks after becoming parents, we went on our first date night-out to a show of Dita Von Teese in Antwerp.
Another fun fact about burlesque dancing... it's a hobby of godmother 'Dorine Ionita'! When you combine auntie's first name initial 'D' with the last 3 letters of her surname 'ITA',
it's DITA!
