I’m Anouck Ionita, illustrator and graphic designer based in Boom (Antwerp) Belgium.

With over 10 years of commercial work experience, I am specialised in textile prints. My interests are board sports, travelling, human/animal rights and I have a passion for fashion. ‘Anookita’ is a merge of my full name and it sounds like ‘Ainokea’ wich is the Hawaiian slang for ‘I don’t care’.

UNIVERSITY
In 2009, I graduated from St.Lucas University of Visual Arts in Antwerp with a Masters degree (honours) in graphic design. After exhibiting my graduating project, I was offered a full-time position at Imperivm snowboard company.

EXPERIENCE
Two weeks after, I was creating snowboard collections as head of design and Imperivm offered my own ‘Ionita’ label inside the brand. From prints on boards, designing gear and advertising, to presenting the collection at the international business sports fair 'Ispo' in Munich. My responsibility was growing fast and I started creating the publicity for all ’United Brands’ shops and ‘UBX’ boardshops. My first experience in textile design came when ‘United Brands’ started a new sportswear brand ‘Athletics’. I designed the branding and the first collections together with an experienced buyer. After three years of loving my job, I left to travel the world.

PROFESSION
In 2013, I applied for a full-time job as fashion designer for C&A Europe, which is what I have been doing ever since. The multinational retailer 'C&A' is giving me the opportunity to travel for trendwatching, production and factory visits (Bangladesh/India/Turkey). I work with an international, talented design team and I'm still learning everyday.

SOCIAL

I work passionated every day on new collections for C&A. The main reason I don’t do freelance work is so I can enjoy my social life after work. My biggest inspiration are things that make me smile. My family, my funny partner, cute animals, my friends and their online memes. Anything can be inspiring.
